Why it works
The data plane only ever dials out.
Heighliner splits the control plane (fleet specs, approvals, the audit chain and the usage ledger) from the data plane (sandboxes, the scheduler and the gateways). The data plane connects outbound only, which is what lets it sit in our cloud, your account or an air-gapped site without code changes.
In BYOC, your buckets, databases and traces stay in your account. Only grants and audit metadata cross to the control plane. Read the glossary entry on BYOC.
